Product description
This paper addresses some of the themes and ideas that were raised and discussed at the Canadian Teachers’ Federation July 2014 President’s Forum on Social Justice. The author presents an overview of topics covered under the broad umbrella of social justice, and offers some definitions, examples, and illustrations of how educators might take up the challenge to put equity and social justice at the centre of their practice. Notions of privilege and identity are highlighted, with a call to encourage student and teacher activism, and a rethinking of teacher education for social justice.
